For an infant or toddler, the panel of fabric will cover the bottom and back of the child. For a larger child, it will not sit as high and the straps will need to be loosened. Fortunately, preschool sized soft structured carrier are on the market, and it may be possible to contact the manufacturers to inquire about specially sized carriers for special need situations. Kinderpack is one manufacturer that you could try. I do hope this helps!Metro DC Babywearinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17230431017408673743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320181329151829081.post-90142583670998172922016-05-20T21:31:55.840-04:002016-05-20T21:31:55.840-04:00Hi,

I grabbed things from my first floor that were close at hand, as though it were a real emergency. There are so many possibilities, this was mostly to help you think about what they were. I will come back in a few days and talk about the "faux-emergency" as well. You know, the one where you're at the beach and your toddler is too tired to walk back to the car. Not a true emergency, but still a problem to be solved.Metro DC Babywearinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17230431017408673743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320181329151829081.post-22517960653994623732011-03-15T12:11:27.322-04:002011-03-15T12:11:27.322-04:00Also, did you notice how many pictures there were ...Also, did you notice how many pictures there were of rescue workers in Japan carrying out little old ladies on their backs?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320181329151829081.post-11512692008902548542011-03-15T12:10:11.860-04:002011-03-15T12:10:11.860-04:00I was just looking through our "improvised ba...I was just looking through our "improvised babywearing" photos from the first babywearing conference, and one of the fastest carriers there was a podaegi made from duct tape and a pillowcase.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320181329151829081.post-3963321263193156102011-03-15T11:56:22.467-04:002011-03-15T11:56:22.467-04:00Amazing! Another possible &quo...Amazing! Very helpful info.

Another possible "emergency" carrier is a long-sleeved pullover. You can tie the arms over one shoulder like a simple fabric wrap used for a one-shoulder carry, and set the child in the body of the pullover.

I used this one when we were taking a tour of a cave, and the youngest (toddler) got tired halfway through the walk back. I should have brought the sling just in case, but he'd been going through a phase of "I want to walk!" everywhere, and I forgot it. Thankfully my husband had a fleece pullover with him, and I could improvise. Hubby would have carried him, but he'd injured his shoulder recently and physically couldn't carry him that far.KittyKathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08125196614385747214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320181329151829081.post-29059842034962004392011-03-15T11:42:39.621-04:002011-03-15T11:42:39.621-04:00So neat, thanks for the awesome post!So neat, thanks for the awesome post!Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03742988374635783051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320181329151829081.post-48109120328282472992011-03-15T10:17:45.505-04:002011-03-15T10:17:45.505-04:00great post!!
